Hybrid swarms

We are using hybrid swarm experiments to identify genes contributing to pre- and postzygotic incompatibilities between closely related species.

Genotyping and phenotyping of hybrid swarms allows us to infer pre- and postzygotic isolating factors.

We are using advanced intercrosses combined with whole-genome sequencing techniques, to identify viable hybrid genotypes and putative DM incompatibilities in species pairs spanning different divergence times.

We are focusing on species from the nasuta and athabasca subgroup, and also flies from the virilis clade.
